My Home Theater Construction Part 12 -- Building the Screen
My Home Theater Construction Part 12 -- Building the Screen Video Clips. Duration : 3.58 Mins.
In this video we begin by putting the second sub in place, and ripping up the old (nasty) carpet. I took a week off of work to do these things and build the screen. After ripping up the carpet on Sunday I got very near hospital-sick with an allergy-induced asthma attack (thanks, carpet dust!). So I was out of commission for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of my "week off". New carpet was installed on Wednesday (the ONLY thing I haven't done myself!) and it looks fantastic! I was very impressed at how the carpet guys worked around the stage. I know where every seam is down there but I'm hard-pressed to find them now. I built a "minimalist screen wall" (search for it on AVS Forums) to support my 120" wide 16:9 screen. The wall is really just two columns with a spreader between them... a giant goal post. I attached z-clips to it to support the screen. The screen I built is made from 1x4 finger-jointed pine boards that were pre-primed. This is good material to work with but it's pricey. I built a frame, secured it using Kreg-jig pocket screws and L-brackets. The Seyour AV acoustically transparent screen fabric was simply stapled to the back using a metric crapload of staples. I did follow a pattern to make sure that the screen was pulled taut and wrinkle-free. I came up with this ideal to have a theater room in my house. I went to home depot and just start buying wood and stuff. I didnt have any plans i just made it up as i went, But when i was mia on xbox live everybody wanted to know what i was doing. So i came up with the plans on how it should look when i done. Some of the pic i know is not in the right order they all start to look the same at the end.
