This is a short video of our backyard theater located in Lancaster, Pa. We have an 18x12 foot screen in our yard. Its put up by PVC piping and the actual screen is a painters drop cloth. It looks more wrinkled on the video than it actually is. It's pretty amazing to see. The picture is crystal clear. The projector has the capability to connect to our xbox and computer for movies and video games.

In this clip we show the overall design of our theatre. The theatre took approximately six months to construct from scratch in a home basement. Our goal was to build a home theatre that was not just fully automated but also very clean in design and at a price that is very affordable. When it comes to home theatres people often assume that is very expensive and that they will never be able to afford it. So they don't even bother to look into it. Sure, for a hardcore enthusiast with a lot money to spare the sky is the limit. But you can also build yourself a very descent home theatre and on a reasonable budget. The video you're about to see is an example of such home theatre. So without further ado, sit down comfortably in front of your monitor, dim the lights and prepare to be blown away. The first thing to consider when you are thinking about a home theatre is what you will use for your video display. If you plan on using a projector the room will need to be dark which means that your walls and ceiling should be of dark color and preferably matte texture. The goal here is to prevent as much as possible the light reflected from the walls and ceiling to shoot back toward the screen. Otherwise, your picture will appear washed out and lacking in contrast. In our case we went a step further by angling our walls and have outfitted them with a carpet like material to improve sound acoustics. While rebuilding my equipment rack I decided it was time to do an update on my home theatre equipment. I'm using a server rack with the following equipment: Bryston 14B ST power amp, Emotiva XPA-5 power amp, Emotiva UMC-1 processor, Benchmark DAC-1, home theatre PC, Samsung BD-P1400 Bluray player, and two set top boxes for TV. My speakers are Genesis 400 for LR, Genesis 700 for C, Genesis IM8200 for LS/RS and an SVS 12 inch subwoofer. My projector is a JVC-HD1 with an OSScreen 100 inch fixed screen.

A quick look at my home theatre. I converted my second bedroom and I think it looks pretty good. The conversion took me around 5 weeks, doing the work at weekends and after work. The lights are really just there for parties or when I've got lots of people over playing on the Wii or something. Still, I think they're a nice touch.

A video of my Home Theatre room I recently completed. Given the smallish nature of my garage 3m x 9m I wasn't sure I could convert it into a HT room. I then saw someone online who had converted a smaller space into a HT room so I started drawing up the plans for my conversion. Took 3-4 months to do, after a lot of research online I did everything myself except the electrical connections and carpet. Running 6.1 setup but only have 5.1 installed at the moment. Full HD Sony projector running to a Yamaha amp and PS3. Bi-Omni speakers cables through-out. Screen was made from block out cloth attached to a frame, stretched and stapled clockwise around. Split level was built out of timber frames 1 foot wide, with yellow tongue floor ontop. Plasterboards are 13mm soundcheck all around great sound absorption. Any questions let me know.
